Virtual Try-On

Sold-out and unavailable values

Two different situations make a value impossible to buy. The app treats them separately, so shoppers can tell a colour that's sold out from a combination that was never made.

What counts as sold out

A variant is sold out when Shopify says it can't be purchased. Variants that don't track inventory, or that keep selling when out of stock, count as available.

Choose how sold-out values look

  1. 1

    Open Settings

Go to Settings and find Variant picker defaults.

  2. 2

Pick an Out of stock style

Choose one of the four styles below. The preview beside it shows sample swatches with two sold-out values.

  3. 3

    Fine-tune it

For Strikethrough, set the Sold-out line color. For Opacity, set how faded sold-out swatches and buttons look.

  4. 4

    Save

Click Save in the save bar.

Product cards follow the same style

On product cards, sold-out values are struck through or faded the same way, and Hidden leaves them off the card. On a card, a value counts as sold out when none of its variants can be bought.

Choose what happens to combinations that don't exist

As a shopper picks one option, the others react. A value that doesn't exist with the current choice can fade or disappear:

  1. 1

    Open Settings

Go to Settings and find Product page.

  2. 2

    Choose the behavior

Under Unavailable combination behavior, choose Fade (the value stays visible but faded) or Hide (the value disappears until the shopper changes their other choice).

  3. 3

    Save

    Click Save.

Tip

Fade is the safer choice for most stores: shoppers still see every option that exists, and nothing jumps around as they click.

Troubleshooting

  • The variant tracks inventory in Shopify and Continue selling when out of stock is off. Otherwise it counts as available.
  • You clicked Save on the Settings page.
  • The product page uses the app's picker, not the theme's (see Add swatches to product pages).
