Virtual Try-On

How purchases and revenue are counted

The app listens for Shopify order events and matches ordered products against recent completed try-ons. Understanding that match is essential when comparing the report with Shopify sales totals.

How a purchase is matched

  1. 1

    An order is received

The app ignores orders marked as test orders and checks the products in the order.

  2. 2

The product is checked against recent try-ons

A product qualifies if it has a completed try-on in this store within the preceding seven days. This check is based on product and store, not the purchasing customer's identity.

  3. 3

    A purchase event is recorded

The app records a purchase event for the matched product and order. Duplicate webhook deliveries are deduplicated using the store, event type, order and product.

Example

A shopper tries on Product A. Another customer orders Product A within seven days. That order can contribute an attributed purchase for A even though the purchaser did not use try-on. An order containing two matched products can contribute two purchase events.

Compare reports carefully

Vensa's revenue covers matched product lines. Shopify's total sales report can include other products, shipping, taxes and different counting rules. Use the same date range and check order status, currency and the seven-day product match before treating a difference as missing data.

The funnel and conversion rates aggregate events rather than following a single cohort from first visit to purchase. Use them as activity indicators, and avoid presenting them as a measured sales lift.
